About

My name is Roshan Shankar, and I’m a volunteer at the Aam Aadmi Party. I am on most social media platforms as @roshankar. I put this upfront so that you know my political disposition and personal worldview. I shall make an attempt to write about politics and policy in India, some of my personal experiences and experiments with it, and also intersperse it with some personal stories and posts.

I am an Advisor in the Delhi Government under AAP serving from its inception in February 2015. I have worked on a broad spectrum of issues concerned with urban governance, water, environment, health, energy, mobility, education, and sustainable development in the last five years with the CM, Deputy CM, Water Minister and Urban Development Minister at different stages. I co-wrote the manifesto for the Aam Aadmi Party, through a campaign called Delhi Dialogue, under the Chairpersonship of CM Arvind Kejriwal, along with Ashish Khetan, late Meera Sanyal and Adarsh Shastri. Email: roshans[at]alumni[dot]stanford[dot]edu.

I have also co-founded two initiatives called UnPollute (water and air) and CCN (growth consulting and digital marketing) that try to work on interesting projects and programs in sustainable and ethical communication across India. They work out of Delhi and Mumbai as of now. Email: hello[at]roshankar[dot]com.

Before joining my full-time unpaid job in India’s most interesting startup (AAP), I went to 3 years of graduate school at Stanford University, earning a Masters in Science (MS) and Masters in Public Policy (MPP). Prior to that, I spent 2007-11 playing quiz bowl events and earning a degree in Computer Science at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) at the University of Delhi. I’m a proud alumnus of one of India’s best high schools, DPS RK Puram. Email: You know my Gmail! 🙂

  2. Hi Roshan , AAP’s stand on business , capitalistic wealth creation was in my opinion a grey area at least for me as i had not read anything on it . Though i dont follow the coloured main stream media but still didnt have a view on it. Thus for me this was a revelation. thanks
