Delhi Government honors Urdu Scholars and their literary work #ThisWeekinAAPDelhiGovt

           The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi today awarded the renowned Urdu Scholars, Writers, Poets, Journalists for their contribution towards Urdu Literature & Language in a function organized by Urdu Academy at Delhi Secretariat.

 

The Secretary Art, Culture & Languages, Shri NK Sharma conferred the prestigious awards to the eminent Urdu for promotion & propagation of Urdu Language. Shri Sharma awarded All India Bahadur Shah Zafar Award to Prof. Malikzada Manzoor Ahmad (posthumous) from Lucknow with Shawl, citation cash award & mementos.

 

           Prof Haq was awarded with  Pt. Brij Mohan Datataria Kaifi Award award worth Rs 1,50,000/- while Dr. Khalid Alvi, Dr. G.R. Syed, Dr. Tabish Mehdi, Jb. Qasim Syed, Dr. Athar Farooqui & Jb. Aslam Sabri each were awarded with cash price of Rs 50,000/- for research & criticism, creative writing, Urdu poetry, Urdu journalisms, Urdu Translations & Best Artist respectively.

 

           The function was presided over the Vice – Chairman, Urdu Academy Dr. Majid Deobandi while it was attended by Secretary Urdu Academy Shri SM Ali and a number of eminent personalities.

 

           Urdu Academy, Delhi since its inception in May, 1981, has been conducting various Educational, Cultural and Literary Activities, for the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language, literature and composite lingual culture.   Urdu Academy has been honouring every year renowned Urdu Scholars, Writers, Poets, Journalists and other literary personalities for their contributions for the promotion, propagation and development of Urdu language, since 1982.   274 Awards have been given to different prominent scholars/writers/journalists including 31 All India Bahadur Shah Zafar Awards and 8 Pt. Brij Mohan Datataria Kaifi Award.

 

Secretary (Languages), Shri Sharma announced that Government of Delhi is committed to promote & propagate Urdu Language. He said that academy will organized seminar & symposium time to time seeking suggestions from the eminent scholars of Urdu language for promotion of Urdu language.
